RIP PAT GOLLAGLEE:  We have been informed that Pat sadly died last week.  Our thoughts and prayers are with her daughter Sheila and the family. The funeral is at Rotherham Crematorium on Mon 1st July @ 2pm.


ADORAMUS NATIONAL CONGRESS: The Bishops of England and Wales invite bishops, priests and people to gather at St Marys College Oscot Birmingham on the 14th Sept for a day of renewing and deepening of devotion towards the Eucharist. Each diocese is invited to send a coach of pilgrims and up to 1,500 people are expected. There are 6 places allocated to the Rotherham Deanery. If you  are interested in attending please let  Mgr Desmond Sexton know asap and no later than  the 28th June.


FINDING GOD IN ALL THINGS”—Jesuit Mission Week at St Marie’s Cathedral: From Monday  8th to Friday 12th July, a team of Jesuits will be at St Marie’s Cathedral for a Mission Week. Each day will involve a rhythm of prayer, workshops, communal meals, and times of group sharing and reflection. Everyone will be welcome to participate at any point during the week. More detailed information is to be published nearer the time.  Please see the poster on the parish website for information about some of the activities.

INTER - DIOCESAN PILGRIMAGE IN HONOUOF THE PADLEY MARTYRS : 7th July 2024. Assemble 3:00pm at Grindleford Station for Procession to the Chapel  Mass Commences at 3.30pm. Hourly trains from Manchester and Sheffield Buses from Sheffield Interchange – High Peak Route 65;   S32 2JA for Sat-Nav. Pilgrims are welcome to arrive early and picnic in the grounds.


JOIN US FOR A SUMMER DAY OF REFLECTION AND PRAYER WITH FR PETER SCALLY SJ: 13th July.  Peter is a Jesuit priest who is now based at Mount St Mary's College, Spinkhill, where he is beginning a new project with the Jesuit Institute to make theological and catechetical videos for YouTube. You will need to bring a packed lunch.

LADIES DONATE YOUR PRE-LOVED BRAS: Harthill WI are collecting pre-loved bras for The Janice Rose Lingerie Charity who  send them to the Gambia to help protect women and girls from sexual exploitation.  Donations can be made at both St Joseph’s and Kiveton and Anne-Marie (for St Joseph’s) and Stella Green (for Kiveton) will pass them on to the WI.


DIOCESAN ANNUAL SAFEGUARDING EVENT:  To be held on 6th July at Holy Trinity School Barnsley10am - 3.30pm. The theme is Diverstity and Trauma and will examine  social, cultural and other diversity issues and their role in traumatic experiences thorough a number of talks from guest speakers from around they world including spiritual and ritual abuse and its role in human trafficking and so called ‘honour’ based abuse. SUMMER FAYRE on SATURDAY 6TH JULY 11am to 2pmSt Wilfrid’s are holding their summer fayre along with a wheel barrow competion with the theme of supporting vulnerable, isolated  and  homeless people (Decorated wheelbarrows must be one third plant based with the handles accessible and be able to be wheeled about. Rainproof objects can be included in the design.  They can be individual, group or organisational entries (e.g schools)  There is no entry fee and completed wheelbarrows must to be at St Wilfrid’s by the 5th July 1-4pm).  There is also an appeal for knitted flowers as they want to display a flower cascade at the fayre. If you are able help and  knit  few flowers in the next couple of weeks please contact the centre Tel: 0114 2555720 or email: info@stwilfridscentre.org

 

LIVE SIMPLY JUNE:  Live Simply, Sustainably with Creation and in Solidarity with the Poor

Electrical and Electronic Waste is the fastest growing waste stream in the world. The UK is the second highest producer of E-Waste in the world. There will be a collection of all things electrical and electronic at church throughout June. 

We will be collecting all things electrical and electronic including computers, mobile phones, game consoles, small kitchen appliances, electrical and electronic tools, chargers, cables and wires. 

Everything we collect will be taken to Aspire Community Enterprise in Sheffield a social enterprise specialising in recycling electrical and electronic waste. They provide training and jobs and a supported working environment for vulnerable or marginalised people.
