Please note that there is no Hour of quiet prayer at Kiveton 24th and 31st December and no Rosary for Peace on 26th December in the parish rooms.


FIRST HOLY COMMUNION:   

Preparation will begin in January for Easter 2025. The sacrament is available to all baptised catholic children in year 3 and above.  If you wish for your child to take part, please collect a letter from the back of Church today. NEWS FROM ST. MARIE’S CATHEDRAL:

There will be two Priests hearing Confessions at St Marie’s Cathedral from Thursday 19th–Saturday 21st December and Monday 23rd – Tuesday 24th December, starting at the usual time of 11.30am and on Christmas Day  there is a 6.30pm evening Mass.


OPENING OF THE JUBILEE YEAR 2025—Saturday 28th December, 12.30pm

The rite of the Opening of the Jubilee Year will take place on Saturday 28th December, at which Bishop Ralph will preside. The celebration will start at the Sheffield Anglican Cathedral at 12.30pm, from which there will be a procession to St Marie’s Cathedral for the opening Mass. All from across the Diocese are encouraged to come and celebrate the beginning of this special year, in which all are invited “to an intense experience of the love of God” and “a lively experience of grace and hope” (Francis, Spes non confundit, 6)!

LECTIONARY BOOKS:

The new Lectionaries (the four books of Sunday, Feast Days and weekday readings) will be coming into use from Advent Sunday December the 1st. As the parish has had to purchase these at some cost,  we hoped that parishioners might like to take the opportunity to make a dedication to a loved one in the new books by donating to the cost.  We will then arrange to write the names of your loved ones in the new books in due course.

 St Thomas of Canterbury School is a Catholic Voluntary Academy for girls and boys from age three to eleven in the south of Sheffield.

 

Governors are seeking to appoint a cleaner 5 days a week 2 hours per day who is an enthusiastic and committed person who is able to relate well to young people to join our evening cleaning team providing a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene across the school.

We would require the successful candidate to start as soon as possible.   The post holder will be responsible for maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene in class basis, toilets, and other areas around and outside the school.

They will be able to:

 

• Communicate effectively with other employees and management.

• Be reliable , trustworthy, punctual and us their own initiative.

• Be aware of health and safety policies

• Take responsibility for cleaning in a specific area whilst working to a high standard and in a safe manner.

• Understanding the need of the school in prioritising work load.

 

A knowledge or experience of cleaning and buffing is an advantage but not essential as full training will be provided.

 

St Thomas of Canterbury School also has an integrated resource for pupils with physical and learning difficulties. The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.  The successful candidate will be required to complete an Enhanced Criminal Records Disclosure form in line with the Police Act 1997.

▪ Able to draw upon previous experience in a similar role (although this is not essential)
